Challenge #6 · pneumatics
Energized, But Nothing Moves
A clamp cylinder won't extend. You command the solenoid valve and you can hear and feel it click, but the clamp doesn't budge.
① Run your checks
② Make the call
③ Explain your reasoning optional
A strong answer covers:
- What you did: confirmed the electrical side (24V at the coil + audible click + good coil) then checked the air pressure at the valve inlet.
- The reason: the command and valve are fine, but the inlet read 0 psi, so there's no air to deliver.
- Determined outcome: no air means no motion regardless of the command; find the closed supply / dumped or locked-out supply / kinked line, not an electrical fault.
